Remove GPS from Photo

Strip common GPS tags before sharing. We re-analyze the download so you can verify what remains.

Drop images here

or click to browse

Supports JPG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, AVIF, and more (up to 50MB)

Images are not uploaded. Metadata analysis and removal run only in your browser.

Method: browser canvas re-encode creates a new file (original kept). Common EXIF/GPS is stripped. We do not claim 100% removal of all metadata.

How to use

  1. Drop or choose an image.
  2. Review the on-device analysis.
  3. Run removal, check verification, then download or ZIP.

GPS-focused cleanup

Same local re-encode engine as metadata removal, with UI focused on GPS detection and post-clean verification. Keep originals; downloads are derivatives.

ImgToJPG privacy tools never upload your photos. Files stay in the browser via the File API. Filenames, EXIF payloads, GPS coordinates, and camera models are not sent to analytics.

In DevTools Network you should not see image bodies or metadata POSTed for analysis. Ads/GTM may load as normal page scripts; they are not wired to read your photo contents.

Format support (as implemented)

FormatLevelNotes
JPG/JPEGFull metadata support possibleBest chance of reading EXIF and GPS.
HEIC/HEIF, AVIFPartialSome files expose EXIF/GPS; containers vary.
PNGPartialOften little classic camera EXIF; basic file info still shown.
WEBP, GIF, BMPBasic image informationFocus on type, size, dimensions. Missing tags are labeled as not present.

Removal method and verification

Removers use canvas re-encoding, not a lossless tag editor. New JPG/PNG/WEBP files usually omit source EXIF in typical browser paths, but recompression can change size and fine detail. After processing we re-parse the result to report whether common EXIF/GPS still appear. We do not claim 100% of all metadata removed, and we do not guarantee wiping every ICC/custom chunk or steganography.

Faces, signs, and backgrounds in the pixels remain after tag cleanup. Treat metadata privacy and visual privacy as separate layers.

Suggested workflow

  1. Keep originals untouched.
  2. Inspect or clean a share copy only.
  3. Resize/compress if an upload limit requires it.
  4. Recheck visible content before posting.

Maps policy

We do not auto-call Google/Kakao map APIs with your coordinates. Optional view on map opens OpenStreetMap in a new tab only after an explicit click.

FAQ

Are files uploaded?

No. Processing stays in your browser.

Do you invent missing EXIF?

Is every metadata byte removed?

We do not claim that. We re-encode and re-check common EXIF/GPS.

Do coordinates auto-send to maps?

Only if you click to open a map link.

Is the original overwritten?

No. You download a new file.
